The first tab in the Revenue section is Daily Pick-Up. In hospitality, Daily Pick-Up is a metric that tracks changes in reservations and revenue on a daily basis, showing how many new bookings were added (“picked up”).

Key Elements:

  • Tracks the change in the number of reservations between two consecutive days.

  • Measures how reservations fluctuate throughout the day, not just the date they were made.

  • Includes three metrics: Rooms Sold (RNS), Average Daily Rate (ADR), and Total Revenue (Revenue).

You can view metrics such as RNS, ADR, and Revenue and explore their relationships in a graphical display. For detailed explanations of each metric, see article.

Select either today’s date or any previous date to view the data.

SPIT (Same Point in Time) allows you to compare daily pick-ups on the same date from previous years.

RNS

Room Nights Sold (RNS) represents the total number of rooms sold during a specific period.

Daily Pick-Up RNS measures the change in the number of rooms sold between two consecutive days by comparing the overall booking status on the calendar.

Example:
On the screen, we are viewing the Daily Pick-Up for July 10th. This means we are comparing the booking status at midnight on July 9th with the status at midnight on July 10th.

  • On July 10th, there were 12 more rooms sold compared to the previous day.

  • On the same day last year (July 10th, 2024), the Daily Pick-Up was 19 rooms.

  • The percentage –37% indicates the year-over-year change: the Daily Pick-Up on July 10th, 2025 is 37% lower than on July 10th, 2024.

REVENUE

Daily Revenue Pick-Up shows the change in revenue between today and yesterday — in other words, how much revenue was “picked up” through new bookings, cancellations, price changes, upgrades, and other adjustments.

Example:

On July 10, 2025, the Daily Pick-Up is €2,619.56, while on July 10, 2024, it was €4,478.02.
This represents a –42% change, meaning the Daily Pick-Up on July 10, 2025, is 42% lower than on the same day in 2024.

ADR

ADR is calculated by dividing the accommodation revenue by the number of rooms sold.

Daily Pick-Up ADR:

Daily Pick-Up ADR shows the difference in the average room rate of the selected day compared to the previous day.

Example:

  • On July 10, 2025, the ADR is €0.12 lower than on the previous day.

  • On July 10, 2024, the Daily Pick-Up ADR compared to July 9, 2024 was -€0.77.

  • Comparing these values shows a –100% change, meaning the Daily Pick-Up ADR on July 10, 2025, is 100% higher than on the same day in 2024.

Potential Conclusions

  1. Market Situation
The hotel is still receiving bookings, but at a slower pace than last year. This may point to shifting market conditions or stronger competition.

  2. Need for Action
A decline of –37% is significant and cannot be ignored. The revenue manager should investigate the underlying causes and take corrective measures.

  3. Value of SPIT Analysis
Without year-over-year comparison, an increase of +12 rooms could appear positive. However, SPIT analysis provides essential context, preventing misleading conclusions and enabling realistic performance assessments.

Key Takeaway:

This case highlights why it is crucial to combine current performance data with historical context. Looking at one without the other can lead to misguided business decisions.
