Most hotels face the same challenge: a guest checks out in the morning, and the next arrival is not scheduled until later in the afternoon. The room is clean and ready, but it remains unused for several hours. In the season, when shifts are frequent, this often means dozens of hours a week without revenue despite available capacity. To help you take advantage of these hours, we have added a new functionality to Rentlio Pro: Day Use.

What is Day Use?

Day Use is a short-term daytime booking without an overnight stay. It’s for guests who don’t need a bed for the night but want a private space for a few hours.

For you, it means more revenue from rooms that would otherwise stay empty.

Why offer Day Use?

It helps you use existing capacity better. No extra investment or operational changes needed.

When Day Use makes sense

  • Guests check out at 10:00. The next check-in is at 18:00. The room sits empty for 8 hours.

  • Business travelers have a morning meeting and an evening flight. Needs a space to rest or prep.

  • A transit guest is waiting for a ferry and needs a few hours to rest or shower.

  • The family arrives early, but check-in isn’t until later. They want a short stay to freshen up.

  • The guest checks out, but their flight is in the evening. They want a place to shower and relax.

  • Locals book a room for a celebration, anniversary, or just a quiet break.

  • Spa or massage guests want to change or nap before leaving.

  • Digital nomads need a quiet workspace for a few hours.

  • Professional drivers or couriers want a comfortable rest stop.

  • Couples want early access to a room before official check-in.

In all these cases, an otherwise idle room can earn extra income.

How to activate and use Day Use

The feature is available to all Rentlio Pro users. You’ll need to:

  1. Contact our support team to enable it on your account.

  2. Activate it manually in your settings.

Here’s how:

  • Go to Property SettingsReservations

  • Enable Day Use

Set up a separate Day Use rate

Create a rate different from your standard pricing:

  • Under Rate Type, choose Day Use

  • Define pricing method, included services/meals, cancellation rules, and which rooms it applies to

  • The only restriction you can apply is Stop Sale

Once your rate is set, enter Day Use bookings manually as needed.

Key notes about Day Use

  • It does not affect availability

  • No national guest registration system check-in needed

  • No tourist tax applies

How to enter a Day Use booking

  1. In your Rentlio Pro calendar, click Create Booking

  2. Enable the Day Use option

  3. Pick a single date (Day Use is one-day only)

  4. Enter the services, meals, and room details

  5. Save the booking

Day Use bookings show up with a different visual style on your calendar, so they’re easy to spot.
